Music Masters Camps, Levon Helm Studio and THE WEIGHT BAND are excited to present Camp Cripple Creek, a celebration of the music and history of the legendary American rock group, The Band - at Full Moon Resort from Monday, August 20 to Friday, August 24, 2018.
Based out of nearby Woodstock, New York, the Band became one of the most popular and influential rock groups in the world. Camp Cripple Creek celebrates this Rock and Roll Hall of Fame group with concerts, performances, interactive workshops, teaching clinics focused on both music and history, talks from industry professionals who were close at hand... accompanied by plentiful on-stage jamming with the attendees, open jam rooms with backline equipment provided, open mics and song-circles around the campfires. So, if you're a musician, bring your instrument... if you're simply a lover of this amazing music, bring your good spirit. We plan to have a truckload of Very Big Fun at this once-in-a-lifetime vacation-like music experience!
The camp is hosted by the esteemed Woodstock-based touring group, "THE WEIGHT BAND" the players in which represent a direct lineage to the source of this powerful music. Replicating the music of The Band is a tall order. But interpreting the music of The Band is an art. Songs that have reverberated across history for decades continue to speak to millions of us. And THE WEIGHT BAND, featuring Jim Weider from The Band, Brian Mitchell of the Levon Helm Band, Marty Grebb, who worked with Rick Danko and Richard Manuel of The Band Michael Bram (Jason Mraz) and Albert Rogers who has shared the stage with Levon Helm and Garth Hudson remains a vehicle through which we can continue to share those stories and dance to those back beats.
