Having attended 4% of the !st 100 Rambles, Gill Farm in '07, and Woodstock Playhouse in '06 and '08; I had asked on multiple occasions about songs on this new album.
I look forward to purchasing it at the 11/22/08 Ramble!! THANKS.
Great post-Dirt Farmer live album. (5/5) Oct 13, 2008 Mike & Kim Hayward Sunapee NH US
A must-have post-Dirt Farmer live album. Many of the great tunes Levon & his band perform in his barn are on this album
Needed a New Live Album (5/5) Oct 14, 2008 Carmen and Lisa Biller Detroit MI US
We've been to 3 Rambles in the past 3 years. It's nice to have a Live album out since we've been going. "Long Black Veil" is a SUPERB take on a great old Band song. What a great idea to add a female vocal. I always love the way Levon arranges Atlantic City. All you have to do is listen to the unique hit of the snare or the lively sound of his voice to know he's having A LOT of fun!
FINALLY!!! (5/5) Oct 14, 2008 Jay Faulconer Spotsylvania Vi US
Finally a cd reflecting the current Rambles! With the exception of Larry Campbell's version of Chest Fever being absent, this is a perfect cd. I've been to 2 Rambles, and both had some songs in common, while each had songs not in other shows. A double album of the Levon Helm Band would be necessary to get the full effect. I cannot say with enough emphasis how truly wonderful an album this is. Nothing like the real thing though!

If you have never been to a Ramble, this CD is a must-have!
Ramble On! (5/5) Oct 24, 2008 Patrick On CA
Have been to 2 Rambles in Woodstock and booked for another. This is about as close as it gets. Have this CD in the car and have my very own version of a Ramble On the Road!
Great sound from a great band, with Levon in fine voice and an awesome band, with Larry, Teresa, Amy and a horn section that blows the doors off. A "Rock of Ages" for 2008.
The best live Ramble recording available (5/5) Oct 25, 2008 Mark lavine Cooperstown NY US
Having heard this show on the live webcast, it was a pleasure to get my own copy. Great sound and great performances by all the usual suspects. Little Sammy and Sam Bush deserve special mention, now we can Ramble on the road while driving to the Ramble at Levon's. Recordings of the shows at the Barn would sell like hotcakes, so to speak, and we all would want as many as were released since each Ramble has different guests, songs etc. For now, though, this recording is as good it gets.
YEAH! (5/5) Oct 30, 2008 CAPTAIN DON YOUNG SHELTER ISLAND NY US
Voted on by all the stagehands at Jones Beach Theater, Levon Helm (with and without the Band) placed solid in our poll of the top six bands ever. This new CD is my morning music, from jumping out of bed and dancing to the shower with Ophelia, my morning back scratch, to leaving the house for work. What a band, what a day!!!. If this doesn't get me up to a Ramble, I will be one sorry Dude. Peace, Love, and Helm.
Levon - Cool as always! (5/5) Nov 6, 2008 Ray Gehringer River Edge NJ US
I've been to a few Rambles and a few of Levon's road shows since 2003 and have to say the Merlefest cd is a great representation of what the shows Levon & Friends put on are all about. This is the 2nd copy of the Merlefest cd that I'm buying and it's a gift for a dear friend and fellow fan who unfortunately can't get out to a Ramble. It's a blessing to have Levon back singing and drumming as he is one of the great American voices (right up there with Ray Charles) and THE BEST Rock & Roll drummer ever period!
